Parthenocissus tricuspidata - Boston Ivy - 25 seeds
Parthenocissus tricuspidata is a very vigorous and fast growing deciduous (or semi deciduous in milder climates) growing 9 - 15m tall x 1 - 3m wide, it has mostly 3 lobed deep rich green leaves that turn bright reds, burgundy, orange and light red in the Autumn. Greenish white inconspicuous flowers are hidden in among the foliage and grow in upper leaf axils from late Spring to early Summer, the fruits that follow are fleshy blueish black berries that are visible when the leaves have fallen - birds like to eat these!
This has been used extensively to cover walls and can be also be a groundcover, over arbors, on fences, on slopes for erosion control but it is to be noted that you must choose your site carefully as the tendrils have adhesive tips that give the ability to cement itself into walls making it difficult to remove.
It is beautiful and gives a cottage garden feel if grown along walls of buildings.
