Kunzea baxteri - Scarlet Kunzea /Baxter's Kunzea - 100 seeds

Scarlet Kunzea or Baxter's Kunzea is an erect shrub usually growing to 3m x 3m across and has attractive dark green to grey green oblong foliage edged with short white hairs.  In the Spring it is covered with brilliant scarlet flowers up the 7.5cm long occurring near the ends of branches with maturing fruit becoming apparent at the end of flowering.

One of the most beautiful of the Kunzea this shrub requires a well drained sunny position and is resistant to frosts and is easily grown from seed which does not require pre-treatment.  It is versatile in its climate requirements, originating on the south coast of Western Australia and having been grown successfully along the southern and eastern coasts of Australia and interior as far north as sub-tropical Brisbane.

This species also makes an excellent Bonsai subject with its small leaves, gnarled and rugged and frequently twisted trunk and attractive blooms.

The flowers and fruit are highly attractive to nectar seeking birds, particularly parrots and most probably humming birds.
