This Australian native grows as an extremely variable tufted herbaceous perennial with a woody rootstock, growing 0.15 - 1m tall with yellow flowers from Winter to Spring or Summer to Autumn.
 
Grows naturally in WA, NT and SA in grey, yellow or red sand, loam or clay soils, laterite on undulating plains, sand dunes and low ridges and often forms large mats of yellow flowers en masse.
 
Best in full sun and in dry and desert climates, tolerates a wide range of soils but well drained is best.
