Eucalyptus rubida, commonly known as the Candlebark Gum is a tree from 20 to 30m found in primarily upland areas from eastern New South Wales and Victoria, in Tasmania (at lower altitudes) and the Lofty Ranges in South Australia.

It has an open, spreading crown and an attractive upright habit with juvenile foliage that is rounded and very blue or glaucous, maturing to slate-grey to bluish green narrow lanceolate to lanceolate up to 15cm by 2cm.  On this species the bark on the trunk is white, but the old bark before being shed turns dramatically red, orange or pink giving it its common name.  Flowers are white and appear from Summer to Autumn.

This is a fairly hardy, drought tolerant species that can take temperatures down to about -4°C but has the advantage of being lignotuberous, allowing it to regenerate after fire or severe frost.  It has quite a wide natural range and can take a range of soils.
