This Australian native grows to 40m tall, forms a lignotuber and is fully rough barked, rough to small patches, stringy, grey brown to grey yellow and has a glossy green crown of discolorous foliage and white flowers occur from Summer to Autumn.
 
Grows naturally with a widespread and frequent distribution in wet sclerophyll forest on coastal, plains, coastal ranges and escarpments, foothills usually on poorer or shallower soils in SE Australia in NSW and VIC.
