Eucalyptus kybeanensis, commonly known as Kybean Mallee Ash is a cold tolerant Eucalyptus from eastern Victoria and southern New South Wales where it grows on exposed high mountains and plateaus.

It normally grows as a Mallee to some 4m in height, rarely as a tree to 20m high and is normally multi-trunked.  Juvenile foliage is an elliptical glossy grey-green maturing to erect, lanceolate slightly glossy light green.

The white flowers appear in the Spring and early Summer.  The bark on this species is a feature - is smooth all over and ranging from white to grey tor grey-green in colour.  Bark decoriates in reddish-brown strips and can leave the exposed trunk with pinkish tones, scribbles are often present on larger trunks.

This is a frost hardy species that likes good rainfall and is frequently found on rocky slopes and plateaus in poor degraded soils.  It is easily grown from seed which benefits from 4 to 6 weeks stratification.
