Eucalyptus globulus ssp bicostata, the Southern Blue Gum is one of the 800 Eucalypts from Australia.  
A tall stately gum growing as tall as 70m in time this tree is one of the kings of the Eucalyptus forests of SE Australia, it is fast growing, a good timber species and with attractive grey/green juvenile growth and showy new growth in spring and early summer.  Found principally in the cooler higher country of north eastern and southern Victoria this species likes cool moist conditions and can take cold and frost to at least - 12°C and tolerates a range of soils from heavy clays to loams and thin depleted soils on mountain ridges.
