This is an Australian native tree growing up to 65m tall in its native habitat of tall wet forest on deep sandy alluvial soils in sheltered valleys and on slopes in NSW and QLD but usually only reaching 40m and forms a lignotuber.
 
The bark is smooth throughout, sometimes with some persistent scaly grey or grey brown bark at the base of the trunk, smooth white or cream with patches of yellow, pink, grey or orange and is sometimes powdery.  
 
The juvenile leaves are orbicular to ovate 4 - 10.5cm long x 2.5 - 6cm wide and are glossy green above, adult foliage is glossy dark green above, paler below, broadly lanceolate 7 - 18.5cm long x 1.5 - 4cm wide.
 
It has 7 - 11 flower buds per umbels, opening up in late Summer to Autumn to reveal white flowers.
