Eucalyptus cladocalyx nana - Dwarf Sugar Gum - 50 seeds
Eucalyptus cladocalyx nana, commonly known as the Dwarf Sugar Gum is a small white flowering Eucalypt from South Australia. It has all the qualities of the normal sugar gum but grows to only about half the size - normally to 5 to 7m tall as distinct to 20 to 25m for the non-dwarf form.
Juvenile foliage is discolorous dark green to 6 x 9cm changing in the mature foliage to a glossy dark green and up to 15 x 2.4cm.
The bark is smooth and sheds to give irregular white, yellow and grey patches and has white flowers in Summer and large gum nuts.
It tolerates alkaline or clay soils and is suitable for slightly saline sites, its fast growing but frost tender when young and needs a minimum annual rainfall 400mm.It is a useful tree for a hedge, screening plant or low windbreak and is a good bee attracting tree.
