This ornamental Australian native grows as a low spreading shrub 1 - 2m tall x 2 - 3m wide with linear to lanceolate grey green leaves and variably coloured tubular flowers that are usually spotted red, but can come in shades or red, pink, mauve, orange, yellow and are spotted on the inside and occur from Winter to Summer.
The flowers have five petals that curve backwards, revealing spots and fine hairs on the inner surfaces of the petals.
 
Best in full sun to part shade in well drained heavy soils, can tolerate some waterlogging, is frost, wind and drought tolerant when established, preferring drier climates.
 
Makes a great garden specimen, attracts birds, bees and other insects.
