Acer campestre - Field Maple - 30 Seeds

Acer campestre, commonly known as the Hedge or Field Maple is a small to medium-size tree native to Europe and western Asia that reaches up to 25m in height and width at maturity.  A feature is the seasonal colour change in the leaves - normally a golden yellow in Autumn but also red or golden brown.  Because of its low branching dense foliage, Europeans commonly use it in clipped hedges.  Landscapers use the Hedge Maple as a lawn tree, along streets, and in parks. 
 
It prefers a good moist well-drained soil in a sunny position but tolerates some shade and is very tolerant of heat and drought, air pollution, wind, slightly wet and compacted soil and is relatively free of insect pests and diseases.  It makes an interesting Bonsai subject.
