Acacia floribunda, commonly known as Gossamer Wattle or Sally Wattle is a tall, bushy shrub or small tree growing to 6m tall and is found naturally in the eastern states of Australia.
The trunk is erect and slender with graceful weeping branches with phyllodes (leaves) that are linear to narrow elliptical and grow to 10cm long. It bears cream flowers in rods to 4cm long from Winter to Spring and attracts bees, insects and birds.
Generally adaptable in cultivation, it responds favourably to sunny (or light shade), reasonably well drained positions in most soil types. It makes a good, fast-growing screen or hedging plant, particularly for coastal areas where adequate moisture is available. It is frost hardy tolerating frosts to -7°C and is smog tolerant.
