Acacia cultriformis, commonly known as the Knife Leaf Wattle, is a medium shrub up to 2 - 3m tall occurring naturally in woodland and Mallee areas in SE QLD and NSW and is naturalised in some coastal areas of the central and north coast of NSW.

As with most Acacias, the mature plant does not have true leaves but has leaf-like flattened stems called phyllodes.  The Knife Leaf Wattle phyllodes are triangular in shape, greyish and about 25mm long by 12mm wide with a pointed tip.

The bright yellow flowers occur in globular-shaped clusters in groups from the axils of the phyllodes in Spring.

It is one of the most widely cultivated Wattles because of its attractive foliage and colourful flowers which can be used as cut flowers.  The flowers are edible and they are an ingredient used in some fritters, yellow dye is extracted from the flowers and green dye is extracted from the seed pods.

The plant is suited to a wide range of soil types provided they are reasonably well drained, a position in full sun or light shade is suitable and the species is tolerant of at least moderate frosts.
