Acacia acuminata, commonly known as the Raspberry Jam Wattle, is a West Australian Native that grows as a tall shrub or small tree from 5 to 10m tall but usually only up to 7m tall in cultivation.

This is the narrow phyllode variety and is commonly found in the northern, central and eastern wheatbelt and extending slightly into the adjacent Arid Zone, ranging from near Morawa to Balladonia; outlier populations near Ravensthorpe.

Golden yellow rod shaped flowers from mid Winter through to Spring grow in abundance that attract native bees, insects and birds with seedpods that follow in Summer.

The Indigenous Australians have many uses for this species - they grind the seeds and turn into a flour to use in cooking, the orange coloured resin or sap that the tree produces can be made into a tea and thewood can be used for making tools and weapons.

The common name "Raspberry Jam" refers to the strong odour of freshly cut wood, which resembles raspberry jam and the timber has been used for furniture making and fence posts.

Acacia acuminata is a lovely tree and can be grown as an ornamental, used as a windbreak or even as a privacy screening plant.
